Counts 81st Reunion - August 6, 2022
Sandlick Presbyterian Church
Sue Counts opened the meeting with a wonderful rendition of Crissa Colley, granddaughter of John Counts of Glade Hollow, Cleveland. She gave a dramatic presentation in period costume. She welcomed everyone to the first settlement in Dickenson County.
Everyone was asked to stand to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Then a YouTube version of America, the Beautiful was played.
The Secretary/Treasurer Report was prepared by Sue Counts in Gail Marney’s absence. Brett Compton gave the report. He said that the minutes would be posted on the countsreunion.org. He gave the Treasurer’s Report and there was new balance of $167.35 in the Reunion Fund. In addition, we have a balance of $224.00 in the John Counts of Glade Hollow Cemetery Fund.
Other Business
Election of Officers – Nominations were taken from the floor and the election results are as follows:
Brett Compton – President,
Phyllis Counts – Vice President,
Carol Deel – Secretary/Treasurer
There was a discussion about Bench for Cemetery. No decisions were made and the topic was tabled until next year.
Program Continued:
Brett Compton gave his report entitled: 2022 John Counts of Glade Hallow Research Update.
Phyllis Counts gave a presentation on The Inspiring Life of John J. Counts.
Bryan Wells was to give his report on the Montana Counts History
Gifts were given for the Oldest, Youngest, Travel the furthest, and a Flag for the Oldest Veteran
The meeting was adjourned and a Potluck Meal was enjoyed by those attending.
Treasurer’s Report:
Brett Compton started a bank account at Wells Fargo which is a nationwide bank so that deposits can be made from any state. He deposited $275.00 dollars that he received from Gail Marney which was the balance in the previous account. Carol Deel reported that she received two (2) checks totaling $70.00 which she will deposit this week. At that point the total balance was $455. An additional amount of money came in with a designation of the cemetery bench project of $480.00 from Percilla "Sue" Counts. This brings the total to $825.
