Counts Reunion - August 2, 2025

President Phyllis Counts opened the meeting; she welcomed everyone to the reunion.  Easton Compton and Andrew Counts played some beautiful music for us.

Phyllis talked about Sponsors from the Facebook Group who contributed at least $50.00 for the Reunion and for the upkeep of the John Counts of Glade Hollow cemetery.  Phyllis listed the names and the names were listed on the Reunion brochure.

Phyllis then called for there to be a group picture which was taken to commemorate the day.

Chad Counts has been keeping the John Counts of Glade Hollow Cemetery mowed and clear of any cow paddies.  He made an exciting discovery of a previously covered grave marker made of limestone.  He said that it is going to take some work to get the marker cleaned up and deciphered.  He can see the date, but not the name.

Chad also talked about the John Counts of Cleveland, Virginia.  He said that there are large trees that are at risk of falling on the graves.  One stone has already been knocked down.  Ann has found some arborists to trim or cut down the trees, and the cost will most likely be over $1,000.00.  Chad said that he does this kind of work as well.  He encouraged this reunion to donate to the John Counts of Cleveland cemetery.

Treasurer's Report was prepared by Carol Deel.  She gave the Treasurer’s Report, and there was a balance of $2,635.00.

Other Business

Phyllis entertained a motion, brought by Brett Compton to start collecting donations to erect a fence around John Counts of Glade Hollow cemetery.  It was seconded by Audrey Culberson and the vote passed unanimously.  There was a discussion about assistance for the John Counts of Cleveland cemetery; it was determined that we would send them a yearly donation.

It was decided that the 2026 Reunion would be held at the same location, the Town of Lebanon Recreational Center.
